The culture of an area often relates directly to local social structures, and they can be deeply affected by rules and customs. Bermondsey, a vibrant working-class neighborhood in London that once thrived on a strong sense of community, earning the nickname of "Biscuit Town." However, due to social developments, technological advancements, and the pandemic, the community has been unable to adapt positively to these changes and is now facing the risk of cultural erasure.
“The Administrative Occupation of the Biscuit Town” is a co-created interactive project. A 3D analog of Bermondsey space serves as a platform for residents to promote their stories and culture, it empowered people to contribute their personal narratives, uploading and posting pictures onto the blank buildings that comprised their urban environment in the digital space. In this way, they can gain a tangible sense of ownership over the locality they treasured, generating a dynamic map of the city's "simulacra."
